Addictions & Substance Use Disorders
Addiction and substance use disorders affect all aspects of a person's life: physical, mental, social, financial, vocational, family, community.
Addiction is a problem in itself, yet is also a symptom of other significant problems that have very deep roots in a person's life. Successful addiction treatment does not occur unless people and their providers understand and address these underlying issues. It's not just about the drug, it's about the whole person. The multidisciplinary team at Boyle McCauley Health Centre believes that fundamental change will not come unless we deal with the root causes as well as the symptoms of addiction. We excel at understanding where people are and what they need to keep building healthier, more fulfilling lives: that ranges from practical harm-reduction strategies aimed at keeping people alive day to day, through to intensive psychotherapy that helps people through the transformative process of recovering fully from addiction, and every step along the way. |
