Community Nursing Station (CNS)
The Community Nursing Station in partnership with Hope Mission provides unique and varied nursing services for men in the inner city at the Herb Jamieson Center. Referrals are welcome from hospital as well as the community.
Please note that CNS is not wheelchair accessible.
CNS provides crisis intervention, including primary health care, emergency treatment and referrals, arrangement of transportation, emergency non-active hospital accommodation, and personal care case management.
The walk-in clinic at CNS provides physical and mental health assessments, referrals, and nursing care and treatments. Females are welcome to attend the walk-in clinic, although in-patient care is for males only.
We also offer health promotion and prevention and personal hygiene assistance. Medication monitoring can be arranged, and the nursing staff can assist with referrals to home care, and long-term placement workups.
CNS offers in-patient care in the form of a sick bay consisting of 27 beds. Meals are provided by the Hope Mission therefore special diets can not be accommodated.
The admission criteria for in-patient care is as follows:
Ambulatory (no walkers or wheelchairs)
Able to preform all ADL's (activities of daily living) independently
Not requiring constant observation
Male (25 years or older)
Has services within Herb Jamieson (client is not barred from building)
No profound visual impairment
Not actively detoxing
