Inner City TB Program

The Inner City TB Program is an outreach program of the Capital Health TB Clinic. A public health nurse, whose office is at the Boyle McCauley Health Centre, provides a wide range of services to the inner city population in the areas of prevention and treatment of tuberculosis. A physician specializing in TB is also available for assessments and recommendations concerning TB.

Services provided include:
• supervised delivery of TB medications for treatment and prevention
• TB screening and assessment for active disease (Mantoux test, chest x-ray, sputum collection)
• contact investigation following diagnosis of an active TB case
• annual TB testing and education for staff of inner city agencies

Please refer patients for:
• TB skin testing, especially for the high-risk population, including HIV positive individuals and IV drug users
• positive Mantoux (TB skin test reactions)
• symptoms of TB
• abnormal chest x-ray reports, including evidence of old TB

• fax letter of referral (include home address and phone number)
• send patient with a note to the Boyle McCauley Health Centre
