Nursing Station
The
Community Nursing Station provides a unique and varied nursing
service to men and women living in the inner city, particularly
those registered through the Herb Jamieson Centre and the
George Spady Detoxification Centre. Please note that CNS
is not wheelchair accessible.
Services
CNS
provides crisis intervention, including primary health care,
emergency treatment and referrals, arrangement of transportation,
emergency non-active hospital accommodation, prescription
emergencies, and personal care case management.
Walk-in
Clinic
The
walk-in clinic at CNS provides physical and mental health
assessments, referrals, and nursing care and treatments.
One-on-one counseling is available, as well as health promotion
and prevention and personal hygiene assistance. Dietary
and medication monitoring can be arranged, and the staff
can assist with housing referrals and applications, home
care, and long-term placement workups.
In-patient
Care
CNS
offers in-patient care in the form of a sick bay and hard-to-house
units. In this capacity, pre- and post-op care is given,
as well as short-term palliative care (under individual
special circumstances and with the help of the Homecare
Palliative Care team). The admission criteria for in-patient
care is as follows:

Prescriptions
When
needed, financial assistance for prescriptions can be arranged
for qualifying residents. The CNS staff will assist with
processing, adminsitration, and monitoring of prescriptions
as necessary or requested.
Occupational
Health Programs
Occupation
health services are provided to the agency staff of the
Herb Jamieson Centre, Hope Mission, George Spady, and Alberta
Human Resources and Employment 105th Street District Office.
